EVAC Varsity Track & Field Shines at State Prelims—And We're Not Done Yet

Our EVAC high school athletes lit up the track and field last night at the State Preliminaries, and we couldn’t be prouder. The energy, the effort, and the results were incredible—including a historic podium finish, multiple school records, and a wave of personal bests!

EVAC's First Podium of the Year

The spotlight belongs to Kade Nail, who finished 3rd in the High Jump at the State Championship Final—our first state championship podium finish of the season! This is an especially meaningful moment because Kade pulled this off without access to any high jump equipment or facilities to practice. He did it with pure athleticism, grit, and determination. What a huge accomplishment for Kade and a milestone for our program!

New School Records Broken

We also saw 31 personal records (PRs) set during prelims and a total of 8 new EVAC school records:

  • Boys 4x800m Relay – Paul Maurer, Matt Jenson, Peter Towey, and Kade Nail

  • 110m Hurdles – Keith Miller

  • 100m – Josie Sequeira

  • 1600m – Evangeline Miller

  • 400m – Aaron McAvoy

  • 800m – Mary-Beth Grzybowski

  • Shot Put – Ivy Casteel

  • Javelin – Ellie Milledge

Each of these athletes pushed their limits and left everything on the track and field—amazing work!
