High school teams are targeted for high school students in grades 9-12.  Students must be 18 years or younger as of August 31. Junior High teams are targeted for junior high students grades 7-8.  Students cannot be 15 before September 1. Elementary teams are targeted for grades 4-6. Team size and players on the roster will be determined by the coaches.  

Season datres vary based on each team. Generally speaking the high school regular and post seasons are from Novemeber through March with tryouts in October, and the elementary girls and junior high girls are from December through March with tryouts in November. The elementary and junior high boys are Februray through April.  

EVAC basketball teams participate in a variety of types of tournaments. Tournament participation varies due to age level, coach availability, and cost.  While some tournaments are local, all EVAC basketball teams travel to California for March Gladness. Some varsity and JV teams have also traditionally participated in the Western District Tournament (local) and NCHBC National Homeschool Tournament in Missouri.

All athletes MUST complete EVAC 2024-2025 Registration prior to tryouts.

High School: The 2024/2025 tryout dates are currently set for 10/07/2024 and 10/11/2024 at Mesa Baptist. On those dates the high school girls will tryout from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and the high school boys will tryout from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.​

One of the most commonly asked questions we get about equipment is the size of the basketball used. Here's a breakdown:

• Girls' Basketball: High school, junior high, and elementary levels all use a 28.5 size ball.

• Boys' Basketball: High school and junior high use the standard men's size of 29.5, while elementary boys use a 28.5 size ball.

There are typically three fees for each season: team fees, uniform fees, and tournament fees. Team fees include CAA league fee, estimated costs for facilities and referees, and insurance and other administrative costs. Uniforms are player-owned, meaning that at the start of each season, players that are rostered are required to purchase a uniform to be a part of the team, but the uniform is then owned by the player and is the player's responsibility. If the player is a returning player for that team and the uniforms have not changed, the player can use the same uniform from the previous season. Tournaments are a separate cost and only applicable to teams that engage in tournaments. Most high school teams find at least one tournament to play in each year, but elementary and junior high teams do not always play in tournaments.
