Thank you for visiting the East Valley Athletes for Christ website. Our Mission Statement reads, “East Valley Athletes for Christ (EVAC) is an association of home school families dedicated to exemplifying Christ while participating in athletic competition. It is the goal of EVAC to encourage the hearts and minds of the participating home school youth in the love and likeness of Christ.” Most coaches and board members are home school parents.
EVAC competes in the Canyon Athletic Association, a competitive league for charter Junior High and High Schools (and two homeschool organizations – EVAC in the east valley and AZ Heat in the west valley). We have had students on the Junior High teams as young as sixth grade. The student must be homeschooled with at least 51% of the CORE subjects are to be taught by a parent. Eligibility Requirements
EVAC currently offers Junior High Boys Flag Football, Jr. High and High School girls’ volleyball, Jr.High and High School boy’s and girl’s basketball, boys’ High School baseball and girls’ High School softball. Flag Football and Volleyball tryouts are in August. Basketball tryouts are usually held mid-October (basketball season runs November-early March), usually with a conditioning camp beforehand.
Baseball/Softball tryouts are held in February. Watch the website for exact dates. Once a team is established, each team coach coordinates their own practice schedule – usually 2-4 times a week. There are usually 2-3 games a week once the season starts. Most games are played in the Phoenix area, with the majority in the East Valley.
